Do you suspect Medicaid fraud, but aren’t quite sure if it is wrong – or how to report it?

The U.S. Department of  Health and Human Services says you should watch out for these items:

  • Cash payment for your Medicaid number.
  • Everyone in a group patient setting receives the same treatment, pharmaceuticals or equipment, like wheelchairs.
  • Billing for services you did not receive
  • Services listed on your medical summary notice that you don’t remember receiving or didn’t need – or double-billing.
  • Charges for personal expenses – like clothing or food – that have nothing to do with you as a client.
  • Kickbacks for referrals.

See the full list at Most Common Medicaid Rip Off and Fraud Schemes.

If you suspect fraud, or have questions about whether or not you’ve been scammed, call the Wisconsin Department of Health Services or the federal HHS at 1-800-HHS-TIPS (1-800-447-8477).
