Have you reached your coverage gap in Medicare Part D? Then be looking for a $250 rebate check from Uncle Sam.
Last week, the federal government started sending out the checks to help seniors with prescription and other expenses that fall into the “donut hole.” Next year, seniors who reach this gap will get half off all brand-name drugs. The “donut hole” should be gone by 2020 with continued improvements to the system, officials say.
If you are going to receive a check, be on the lookout for crooks who want that money.
Some will call or send emails stating they can get that cash for you faster than the normal route. The catch? You have to pay them a fee up front. If you get a call or email like this, contact the Attorney General immediately. It’s a scam.
State Sen. Jim Sullivan shares other tips on the “donut hole” checks on his blog.
