Watch Out for Traveling Work Crews

A new Wisconsin law will help protect the public from scammers who travel in work crews.

A popular summer scam involves crews going door-to-door, offer up services for cash, but never completing the work – or doing work so bad, it has to be redone.

The law requires all traveling crews to carry certain paperwork so consumers know they are legit. (A call to the state’s Better Business Bureau to check their reputation before you sign on for services is also a good idea.)

If a crew comes to your home and proposes work, they are required to have a state-bonded identification with a business name and address, as well as their personal information, according to a story at WSAU.com.

The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development has more details here.
